Walmart and Sam’s Club Helping Patients at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals

Today marks the first day of the 2018 CMN Walmart campaign. We are so excited to see what our local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores will accomplish in the next 5 weeks!

On Wednesday, August 15th over 70 people attended the Walmart CMN Campaign Kick-Off Event at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Store managers and associates from Bay Area Walmart and Sam’s Club locations spent the morning learning about the impact of CMN donations at our hospitals and getting ready for the 2018 campaign. Regional Manager Angela Wilson and Market 452 Manager Michael Zobel spoke to attendees about the importance of campaign donations for local Bay Area children, shared best practices for successful fundraising, and helped everyone feel motivated and enthusiastic about the upcoming campaign.

Two special guests attended our kick-off event: Alvena and Arryiana. Alvena, an associate from store 2697 in Antioch, shared the story of her daughter, Arryiana, who was a patient at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. At 7 months old, Arryiana suffered a stroke, which led to frequent seizures. Doctors found that a blood clot in her brain had led to the stroke and caused her to have left-side paralysis. Arryiana had to stay at our hospital for an extended period of time for treatment. Alvena spoke about how much CMN donations helped her and her family and she was truly an inspiration to all of the attendees. Arryiana is 4 years old now and is a healthy, energetic little girl.

We are looking forward to a wonderful 2018 campaign and cannot thank our Walmart and Sam’s Club associates enough for all of the energy they put into ensuring we raise money for children at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. Stop by your local Walmart or Sam’s Club and donate today!

Thank you, Walmart and Sam’s Club!
