Panda Cares Day!

On Sunday August 8th UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital is celebrating Panda Cares Day!

Following the establishment of its inaugural Panda Cares Day™ in 2019, Panda Cares®, the philanthropic arm of Panda Express®, commemorates its anniversary on August 8 every year with a celebration of giving back. Today, we’re celebrating this incredible partnership and the impact it has had on our community.

Since 2007, Panda Express has raised funds for local children’s hospitals across the country through its partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. By asking every guest to round-up at the register, placing donation boxes in-store, engaging in the associate (employee) giving campaign, and fundraising with corporate partners through their annual golf tournament, Panda is one of the highest-giving corporate partners CMN Hospitals has.

In 2020, despite the impacts of COVID-19 on the restaurant industry, Panda Express guests and associates raised millions for CMN Hospitals, including over $688k for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals, and founded the Panda Cares Center for Hope.

Thanks to Panda’s support the hospital was able to add an additional Chaplain to our Spiritual Care Services, expand our Cochlear Implant Program, provide support for our Child Life services dedicated to the emotional well being of or patients, and fund critical mental health services at the Center for Child Protection.

We are grateful for the ongoing partnership with Panda and the many ways they address the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual needs of children, bringing them courage and hope to heal and thrive.
