Kiwanis Food Farmacy

On September 14th, club leaders from the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund (Kiwanis) volunteered their time at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland for our bi-weekly Food Farmacy. Together, we assembled roughly 320 bags of groceries that were distributed to over 100 families.

Many families that come to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland for care rely on inexpensive, processed foods because healthy foods are inaccessible in their communities. Our Food Farmacy program combats this through its partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank, providing whole grains, fruits, vegetables, eggs and protein to our families and patients – all free of charge.

We are incredibly grateful for the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’ Fund continued support as they have been longtime supporters of our Injury Prevention Program at our Oakland hospital. Their recent gift of $20k makes their all-time giving more than $1M. Thank you Kiwanis!
