First Tech Federal Credit Union Gives Back

Ever since the Credit Unions for Kids partnership began over 20 years ago, local credit unions have demonstrated their commitment to Bay Area kids by giving back to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals throughout the year. One credit union in particular leads by example in their efforts to bring funds and awareness to causes that impact their members and communities.

First Tech Federal Credit Union is always implementing new ways to raise funds and awareness for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Now in its fifth year, the Dave and Dan Classic golf tournament has raised over $5.3 million for six children’s hospitals across the Western U.S., and $1.13 million in 2016 alone. New this year, First Tech has created a marketing plan and online platform to raise funds for all six children’s hospitals in their communities for six weeks prior to the golf tournament.

In addition to bringing the business community together to raise money in their signature event, First Tech creates opportunities for employees to give back. During the months of May and June, employees learned more about our hospitals and even created activity kits to help patients and siblings pass time during their stay.

To celebrate the holidays, our hospitals were featured in a “Season of Giving” campaign, in which various nonprofits were featured on the First Tech website, social media, and in branches. Members had the opportunity to weigh in on which charities should receive funding, and our San Francisco Rehabilitation Department was fortunate enough to receive a $16,000 donation to fund a unique Virtual Reality Room. This is just one example of how philanthropy can fund critical equipment and services that would not exist otherwise.

We are very grateful to have First Tech in our community, and appreciate all they do to support local patients and families that need it most!
