Be Home Food Farmacy

On October 5th, Be Home, a home goods company that designs beautiful, ethically sourced goods from around the world, volunteered at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland for our bi-weekly Food Farmacy. Together, we assembled roughly 300 bags of groceries that were distributed to over 150 families.

Many families that come to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland for care rely on inexpensive, processed foods because healthy foods are inaccessible in their communities. Our Food Farmacy program combats this through its partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank, providing whole grains, fruits, vegetables, eggs and protein to our families and patients – all free of charge.

In addition to distributing groceries, volunteers from Be Home also participated in making cards for our patients to uplift their spirts during extended hospital stays.

Thank you Be Home – your recent fundraising campaign and generosity helps UCSF kids access the exceptional care they need regardless of their ability to pay!
